Your emergency cards

Three cards for the moment it gets hard. Keep them on your phone, where your hand already is when the urge comes. Or print them and keep them in your wallet, next to your bank cards.

Card 1, the emergency card: I'm going to play. And what if I lose? I'm going to lose.

1 · The emergency card

For you. For the moment the urge comes.

Card 2, the doubt card: Maybe it's better there? No. Nowhere is it better.

2 · The doubt card

For you. For the moment you start thinking about "another door."

Card 3, the guardian's card, for the person holding your key: Proof, not promises.

3 · The guardian's card

For your key person. For the moment you push them.

Save to phone

On your phone

  1. Tap Save to phone. If the image opens instead, press and hold it, then choose Save to Photos (iPhone) or Download image (Android).
  2. Open it in your photos and mark it as a favorite, so it's one tap away.
  3. On card 1 there's a blank line to call someone. Write in their name and number with your phone's Markup or Edit tool.
  4. If you like, set card 1 as your lock screen.

On paper

  1. Download the printable PDF. You can type into the backs of the cards before you print.
  2. Print pages 2 and 3 at actual size (100%), not "fit to page."
  3. Cut along the dashed line, fold along the dotted line, and glue or tape it closed.

To type into the PDF on a phone, open it in Google Drive (Android) or the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. A quick preview from your downloads can't type.
